Helly Hansen Speakeasy Concept — Boulder, Colorado
As a leading workwear and outdoor apparel brand, Helly Hansen’s iconic look comes in part from the brand’s origins in Norway.
Inspired by classic Norwegian aesthetics and sauna traditions of the country, PORTER designed and conceptualized a speakeasy bar—dubbed The Nor-Way—that was proposed for their Boulder, Colorado retail store.
Access to the speakeasy would have been hidden in plain sight at the entrance of the store, with a slightly visible Norwegian flag signaling to the bar in the basement. Constructed with wood paneling as an homage to Scandinavian design, neon signs boasting jovial Norwegian greetings present splashes of modernity.
A swift departure from the space above, the dimly lit bar was set to feature several comfortable seating options, curated liquor selection, and mood music.
Inviting visitors to drop in for a drink and stay for the good conversations, the concept overall was to show that Helly Hansen’s brand purpose can include pursuing unique ways of enriching consumer experiences.
